How do you get paid for shopping? I don’t want you to go out and spend money but whenever you buy something try to get a little bonus for yourself is great. How do you do this?

Tip #1 – Promotional codes. I never want to pay for shipping a item because I always feel that this is taking away from my online deal. One website that I visit before I checkout online is www.retailmenot.com. Just type in your store’s name then you will get codes for discounts and many times for free shipping.

Tip#2- Receive a check every quarter. Ebates is a website that gives you a certain percentage of your purchase in your account then they send you a quarterly check. Right now all the stores are having a sale on holiday items to help you have a wonderful dinner on a budget. This is the time to create a stockpile to help you save money in 2013. How long do products last if they are stored properly, they can last over a year. Canned vegetables need to be stored in a cool, dry area check out the best if used by dates that are on the product most canned vegetables will be good for up to 5 years. If you have frozen vegetables make sure you keep frozen until you are ready to use. These will last up to 12 months if they are kept in a properly frozen freezer of 0 degrees Fahrenheit. Cake and Cookies mixes are good for up to 18 months. Once it is opened make sure it is tightly sealed and if the mix develops an off odor throw it away. Cookie dough from the stores refrigerator is good until two month. Box of crackers that are opened can keep for one month if tightly sealed in your pantry. You can extend their storage life by freezing them. Just wrap crackers with heavy-duty aluminum foil or use freezer bags and you now can keep them up to four months. If you are making cookies using chocolate chips you can keep the extras in a cool, area tightly sealed for up to 16 months. If they get exposed to overly warm or humid temperatures, chocolate may develop a white film this affects it appearance only the chocolate is still safe to eat. Butter that has been continuously refrigerated will usually keep for about one month after the good to date on package. Butter may be left at room temperature for one to days, but it will begin to spoil fast after that. If you store your butter in the molded butter compartment of the refrigerator located on door it will only last a week it will last much longer when stored in the main body of the refrigerator. Frozen salted butter will generally keep longer (up to 9 months) than unsalted butter (up to 6 months). I get asked a lot why do stores give you items for free? Grocery stores are set up very carefully, with the intention of you spending more than you had planned. Let’s review your shopping experience. Right from the start when you walk into the store you have lots of carriages available for you, not the small hand held basket that are usually around the corner. Taking a shopping cart makes it easy to carry more than you need. The layout of a store is key towards you having to spend longer in a store. As soon as you walk in they have the floral and produce section right near the entrance. So before you grab that product do a little exercise by swatting down to the bottom shelf and reaching high to that top shelf. The hottest place in a grocery store is the end of the aisle they are called end caps. Featured items that are located there have a big signs but often these products are not on sale, you just think that they are. Be careful of related items being paired together on a shelf. Just say you are planning to buy a bag of chips but right next to them is the chip dip making it easy to put that item in your cart. Don’t fall for the numbers game. When Kroger says 10 for $10 you don’t have to buy ten products it just means each one cost $1. Nothing happens by accident in a supermarket. Everything is designed to sell products. So be the frugal shopper that you are and don’t give in to their temptation.
