What I share about saving money is simple common sense.
For example, in my first column, I said I wasn’t going to tell you to stop buying that $3 coffee every morning or go out and grow your own food. Common sense tells you if you make your coffee at home or use coupons you are going to save money. It all is a give and take but learning the benefits in the end is what matters. Let’s say you go out to lunch four times a week, bring your lunch enjoy reading a book while eating or take a walk because your not wasting gas driving to a restaurant and you have extra time in the end. In today’s economy you can find ways to cut costs without sacrificing your lifestyle. Turn off the TV and ride a bike. Enjoy what you have, not wanting what you don’t.
It is common sense that if you eat better you become healthier leading you to savings on future medical costs. Kroger is helping you with that. If you go to their stores you will see signs that say Health Matters. This program is designed to help you make the better choice along with saving money. Kroger is letting you see the nutritional value of foods “at a glance” with the NuVal scoring system. All foods are scored from 1 to 100; the higher the score, the higher the food’s overall nutrition. The NuVal score appears on store shelf tags. Kroger also has added registered licensed dietitians to be in stores on a scheduled basis.
