Fru-Gal Column April 14

The sun is here for good so let’s use one of nature’s free resources to help us get healthy. Losing weight can be one of the wonderful rewards of good weather. Get outside start walking, riding your bike, running, hiking or simply just playing in the park. Research shows that, if you’re overweight losing just 5 to 10 percent of your body weight can improve blood pressure, lower cholesterol and provide better blood sugar control. Set goals but be realistic. Right now Kroger is offering free Health Screening during the month of April at The Little Clinic. Get your blood pressure checked along with your cholesterol. You may also receive a free gift from Dulcolax while supplies last. Just call your local clinic to make an appointment. If you have a dog let him or her get the benefits of the good weather also. Put on your sneakers and grab the leash. Track your progress by visiting walkjogrun.net to chart the distance you cover and calculate the calories you burn. Three Chimneys Farm does not offer free tours they are $10 per person but all proceeds go to charity. Send an email to farm_tours@threechimneys.com to schedule.

The Kellogg’s $10 Gas Card mail-in-rebate is for purchasing ten boxes of Kellogg’s cereal not five. This still is a good deal if you use it combined with coupons. http://www2.kelloggs.com/AARP/rewards/FIMSingle.pdf
