Frugal Forum December 24, 2012

I want to wish everyone a wonderful holiday. Enjoy the day. The Fru-Gal

Let’s make 2013 your year to save. Couponing doesn’t have to be a chore trust me it is fun to save money. It does take some effort from you but if you have some insider knowledge it may make it easier. The Lexington Coupon Club associated with the Fayette County Extension Service would love to have the opportunity to help you with your saving journey. Come to a coupon forum on Monday, January 7th, 6:30pm at Fayette County Extension office, 1140 Red Mile Place and ask us all the questions you want about couponing. Knowing the lingo is a start.

Blinkies: These are those coupons that are dispersed from electronic machines located on the shelves at the supermarket.

Catalinas: Coupons that print out of a machine at the checkout register separate from your register receipt. These are manufacturer coupons that can be used at any store or they can be dollar savings toward your next shopping trip.

Peelies: Many products have coupons attached right to the product that you just peel off and give to the cashier for savings.

Doubling: Get twice the coupon’s face value deducted from the price of the item. Check your store’s coupon policy on doubling. Kroger will double any coupon up to 50 cents. Meijers doubles two identical coupons up to 50 cents.

Stacking: Using multiple coupons per item. CVS, RiteAid, Walgreens, Target allows you to use a store coupon plus a manufacturer coupon for the same item.

Tear Pads: Notepads of coupons that hang off grocery shelves. Remember you don’t need to use these coupons right away grab a couple and save for a sale.

If you didn’t know about the above coupons come on Monday to learn more about couponing.
